Trust and Verify (My article from the Internations Forum today)
Citizens need verified, accurate, and consistent weather information:
Transparency is essential. Local and upper-level reporting must not hide anything under gag orders and secrecy. Citizens make life-and-death decisions based on weather conditions.
Occupational, Travel, Potential Disaster, Daily Planning, Construction, Energy Needs, Health Needs
Citizens are encouraged to have temperature, humidity, and rain gauges in their homes and businesses. They can report any discrepancies to their local agencies. For example, the local weather news reports that the temperature is 85 degrees. However, there are areas of the city where the temperature is much higher, at 95 degrees. The anomaly must be investigated: Is there an instrumentation problem or an environmental condition creating the difference? Another example: the local news reports that the level of local creeks and streams is reaching flood level. However, citizens report that their area's water level is much higher. Citizens are empowered to work closely with their local weather reporting stations to ensure weather conditions are accurately reported and any discrepancies are addressed.
Local Reporting
Lives depend on accurate and open weather reporting. The job of local weather reporting is to gather weather condition information and report it to the local population and the regional reporting agencies. At this level, interaction with the local population is essential, especially if there are extreme weather events to warn about, prepare for, or clean up after.
Local weather reporting agencies should be in direct contact with search and rescue agencies, hospitals, and travel agencies.
Business and Farming: Construction, Business Planning, Planting and Harvesting Schedules, Distribution, Storage, Disaster Mitigation and Planning, Energy Needs
State Reporting
At the state level, the focus is on gathering local weather reports to analyze weather trends for the state and coordinate with regional agencies to build and maintain infrastructure such as dams, railroads, bridges, waterways, etc.
Weekly, Quarterly, and Annual reports to the local agencies and the population are essential for transparency and access to accurate information. Regional agencies and environmental planners can analyze the quarterly reports for climate trends, long-term planning, and disaster mitigation strategies.

Federal Reporting
The federal level focuses on supporting the state and local levels in case of emergencies and weather-related disasters.
Example:
Southern California local weather stations have been reporting extreme drought conditions for years. The region was experiencing extreme dryness, yet there was no coordination between the local, state, and regional levels to mitigate the situation. The local population complained about the dry brush-covered hillsides but was ignored. A local reservoir remained drained during what is historically a high wind season. The local weather agencies reported that dangerous, life-threatening winds were forecast.
A disaster was allowed to unfold due to a lack of accurate information, coordination between agencies, planning for disaster conditions, and mitigation strategies at the state and local levels. This was followed by a late response from the federal level to help people.
The Southern California wildfire disaster followed the U.S. Southeast region hurricane disaster that covered several states. People at the local level were not given timely and accurate information, which led to many deaths.
Government agencies exist to work for the populace.
The population works actively with their local agencies by interacting, reading reports, and holding them accountable for accurate reporting. Local, state, and regional agencies share information and plan mitigation strategies, inform planners to build and maintain infrastructure, and help coordinate disaster relief and cleanup. Transparency and trust are the foundation of these relationships. Lives depend on these agencies, especially as the altered climate is causing more extreme weather conditions.

Guangdong Launches 31631 Weather Alert System
In recent years, against the backdrop of global climate change, a surge in extreme weather events has triggered manifold impacts worldwide. China has been implementing the United Nations' Early Warnings for All Initiative and accummulated rich experience, in particular, through local early warning practices. As a major economic powerhouse in southern China, Guangdong province faces significant climate challenges. Guangdong Provincial Meteorological Service (hereinafter referred to as the Service) has proactively explored innovative solutions to address climate change and enhance disaster prevention and mitigation capabilities, and has developed localized early warning mechanisms and practical experience that provide a valuable template for both China and the global community."

Thank you, Alex. I am keeping this thread so that there is documentation of the news about climate and extreme weather. Our climate is being altered, and it is not what many think. The whole topic is being turned on its head to become a political weapon. Our aim here is to acknowledge that we need to help ourselves in the face of extreme weather. Many Ticos here in Costa Rica talk about the unpredictable weather. I am modifying my house to be cooler by installing bamboo blinds and solar fans. In the four years I have lived here, it has become more humid and hot.
Throw out the politics. Let us save our environment for the next generation.
People are beginning to look up and realize they are being sprayed with something.
Share verified information and keep researching. This will wake people up and keep them asking questions!
